{"id":379921,"date":"2025-11-15T04:33:35","date_gmt":"2025-11-15T04:33:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/379921\/"},"modified":"2025-11-15T04:33:35","modified_gmt":"2025-11-15T04:33:35","slug":"conservatives-wont-say-if-mps-will-be-forced-to-vote-against-budget-national","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/379921\/","title":{"rendered":"Conservatives won\u2019t say if MPs will be forced to vote against budget &#8211; National"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Conservative Leader <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/pierre-poilievre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pierre Poilievre<\/a> and his office will not say if his caucus will be whipped by party leadership and urged to vote against Prime Minister Mark Carney\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/federal-budget\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">budget<\/a> next week \u2014 a vote that could trigger another election if the minority government falls.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Asked by reporters in Calgary on Friday if he was confident that all his members of Parliament would vote against the budget in the House of Commons on Monday, Poilievre wouldn\u2019t directly answer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne hundred per cent of our MPs oppose the costly Carney credit card budget, that is going to drive up the cost of food, housing and living for Canadians,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>While Poilievre is confident his caucus opposes the budget, not all his MPs have shown their opposition when it counts most in the House of Commons. Four Conservative MPs did not vote on Conservative and Bloc Quebecois amendments to the budget last week, which were also confidence votes.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Global News also asked Poilievre\u2019s office if they planned to whip the vote and did not receive a clear response.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConservatives will be voting against Carney\u2019s costly credit card Michael Chong said he was travelling and had issues voting electronically, and Alberta MP Shannon Stubbs said she missed the vote due to a medical issue.<\/p>\n<p>Alberta MPs Laila Goodridge and Matt Jeneroux both did not respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/11515475\/matt-jeneroux-conservative-mp-resigns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jeneroux announced last week he plans to quit as an MP<\/a>, after intense speculation that he was considering following in the footsteps of <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/11510996\/chris-dentremont-resigns-conservative-caucus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nova Scotia MP Chris d\u2019Entremont<\/a> and crossing the floor to href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/11514729\/federal-budget-carney-government-first-confidence-votes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">survive both confidence votes last week<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/11516245\/mark-carney-government-second-confidence-vote-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">avoid an election,<\/a> the absence of those four Conservative tie happens in the House of Commons, Speaker of the House Francis Scarpaleggia would be tasked with casting the deciding vote to break the deadlock.
