I\u2019m evaluating everything, to be honest with you,\u201d Glenn said when asked if he would consider benching Justin Fields for the Jets\u2019 next game against the Ravens on Nov. 23.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Glenn stopped short of addressing the quarterback decision directly, but he was not as defiant as he has been when asked about benching Fields before. <\/p>\n<p>He bristled at the idea a month ago after a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/12\/sports\/jets-lose-like-only-they-can-in-ugly-london-showing-vs-broncos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">loss to the Broncos in London<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>He then <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/19\/sports\/justin-fields-benched-for-tyrod-taylor-as-jets-try-to-spark-offense\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">benched Fields at halftime against the Panthers<\/a> a week later, replacing him with backup Tyrod Taylor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Since then, Glenn has played coy and said he would not address who the starting quarterback was going to be before the Jets played the Bengals, Browns and this week against the Ravens.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fields has had two straight poor passing performances after a strong one in Cincinnati. <\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.40466392;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37672279\" width=\"829\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/111325Jets014CW.jpg\" alt=\"Justin Fields #7 of the New York Jets runs the ball during the first quarter.\" class=\"wp-image-37672279\"  \/>Justin Fields of the New York Jets runs the ball during the first quarter. Charles Wenzelberg for The New York Post<\/p>\n<p>He threw for 116 yards and a touchdown in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/13\/sports\/jets-gap-with-patriots-glaringly-on-display-in-loss\/#:~:text=If%20you&#039;re%20looking%20for,8%20Jets%2C%20there%20it%20is.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">27-14 loss to the Patriots<\/a> on Thursday after throwing for just 54 yards last week against the Browns.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot good enough,\u201d Fields said after the loss Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Jets are averaging a league-worst 139.9 passing yards per game.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, we got to do a better job in the passing game, and that has a lot to do with Justin getting the ball to the right guys, and also the guys, when they do get a chance to get the ball, that they make those plays,\u201d Glenn said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Newly acquired wide receiver <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/14\/sports\/adonai-mitchells-jets-debut-goes-south-in-drop-filled-dud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adonai Mitchell had two critical drops<\/a>, which did not help Fields. <\/p>\n<p>But there were other throws Fields missed, something that has been a pattern all year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were some open guys that we missed in that situation, too, and he would tell you that,\u201d Glenn said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Jets signed Fields to a two-year, $40 million contract in the offseason. <\/p>\n<p>He has $10 million guaranteed coming to him in 2026, but it appears the Jets are going to draft a quarterback and Fields may not even stick as the backup.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.85449219;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37672280\" width=\"504\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/111325Jets83CW.jpg\" alt=\"Aaron Glenn of the New York Jets reacts on the sideline during the fourth quarter. Charles Wenzelberg for The New York Post<\/p>\n<p>Glenn was asked if he might make the move to Taylor to provide a \u201cspark.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think you hear that quite a bit when you get these quarterback changes is, \u2018Man, I\u2019m trying to get a spark for the team.\u2019 But to me, it\u2019s more or less, \u2018Man, I\u2019m trying to make the best decision to give our guys a chance to win,\u2019 because to me a spark is really a short-term deal,\u201d Glenn said. \u201cI want to make a decision to give us a chance to win, and whatever that evaluation process comes out to, just know that the reason why I make decisions that I make is because it gives us the best chance to win.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Glenn was not just upset with the passing game against the Patriots.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGet the insider\u2019s view on Gang Green\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSign up for Inside the Jets by Brian Costello, a weekly Sports+ exclusive.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThank you\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen it comes to this game, this is probably the first time I really verbalized to you guys that I was frustrated at the loss of this game,\u201d Glenn said. \u201cI\u2019m frustrated on every loss, all right, but this one was really frustrating, the fact that we had an opportunity to show the world exactly how we\u2019ve grown as a team in all three phases, and man, the one thing that we didn\u2019t do well is our execution wasn\u2019t as high as I wanted it to be.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Glenn said the defense had communication issues, which led to some big passes by Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Jets set a record by having only one takeaway through 10 games. <\/p>\n<p>That is the fewest in NFL history. <\/p>\n<p>Amazingly, they have zero interceptions. <\/p>\n<p>That ties a record for futility to start a season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s tough. To have one takeaway at this point in the season, it\u2019s tough to even imagine that because you have tipped balls, you have things like that, that you usually get interceptions on,\u201d Glenn said. \u201cI don\u2019t know if it\u2019s bad luck. I don\u2019t know.
