HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Houston police have released body camera video of officers responding to a shooting that claimed a pregnant woman’s life and injured two others.<\/p>\n
An officer was conducting an unrelated traffic stop nearby at the time of the shooting at a homeless encampment behind a Harwin strip mall just after 2 a.m. on Oct. 16.<\/p>\n
The officer fires about a half dozen shots in the direction of the initial gunshots, but police say the officer’s bullets didn’t hit anyone.<\/p>\n
Surveillance video obtained by Eyewitness News shows a man opening fire into a crowd of people after an apparent argument.<\/p>\n
Men and women go running in all directions, and the officer’s gunshots can be heard, sending the suspect running.<\/p>\n
Pashinae Drumgo, who was pregnant, was struck in the lower back and leg and died from her injuries hours later.<\/p>\n
Two other men were also shot but survived. One was struck in the ankle; the other in the leg.<\/p>\n
Minutes after the shooting, police caught up with Ronnie Mitchell at a nearby Whataburger.<\/p>\n
He’s been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for shooting the two men.<\/p>\n
No charges have been filed in Drumgo’s murder. When police were asked about this last month, they said charges would be forthcoming.<\/p>\n
