Relax, Detroit<\/a> Red Wings fans. The team\u2019s goaltending crisis has been averted.<\/p>\n

John Gibson<\/a> left Thursday\u2019s 6-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks with what was diagnosed by the team as an upper-body injury.<\/p>\n

As it turns out, it was nothing more than a passing headache. And because of that, a much greater headache won\u2019t be impacting the team.<\/p>\n

Gibson took two pucks off the facemask during the game. He departed after two periods of play. Cam Talbot<\/a> took over for the third period and ended up getting the win.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust a couple of headshots,\u201d Gibson said. \u201cNothing really crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Friday, the Detroit netminder was feeling much better.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll right,\u201d was Gibson\u2019s self-diagnosis after participating in practice on Friday. He\u2019s been cleared as available for weekend games against the Buffalo Sabres at home on Saturday and at the New York Rangers on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, yeah,\u201d Gibson said. \u201cAll good.<\/p>\n

\u201cFelt pretty good today. No worse for the wear, so nothing to worry about.\u201d<\/p>\n

Red Wings Shy Of Goaltending Depth<\/p>\n

Had things taken a turn in the other direction in regards to Gibson\u2019s health, then there would\u2019ve been plenty for the Red Wings to worry about.<\/p>\n

Currently, both netminders with Detroit\u2019s AHL farm club, the Grand Rapids Griffins<\/a>, are dealing with ailments. Michal Postava<\/a> is out long-term. Sebastian Cossa is on the brink of returning to action. However, he\u2019s not expected to play on Friday when the Griffins play host to the Toronto Marlies.<\/p>\n

Called up from the ECHL Toledo Walleye, Carter Gylander is the main puckstopper at the moment in Grand Rapids. Thursday, the club signed journeyman pro Dustin Tokarski to a pro tryout. While his resume shows him playing 86 NHL games, he hasn\u2019t seen any action this season.<\/p>\n

Who would\u2019ve been getting the recall if Detroit did require a goaltender for the weekend was a real concern for the team. Ultimately, though, that won\u2019t be an issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cReal good sign,\u201d Red Wings coach Todd McLellan said of Gibson being able to practice Friday. \u201cWe anticipate him being okay.\u201d<\/p>\n

The only concern that the team has about their goaltending is determining which netminder will get the start on Saturday against the Sabres.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe haven\u2019t made that decision yet,\u201d McLellan said.<\/p>\n
