Kelsey Grammer’s Daughter Greer Talks Estrangement<\/p>\n

Kelsey is father to eight children across numerous relationships. One of those children is actor Greer Grammer, who you’ve probably seen in TV shows like Awkward and The Goldbergs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a recent appearance on the Pretty Basic podcast, Greer claimed that, even though her father was in her life when she was very young, from the age of 5 to 16, she didn’t see Kelsey at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe biggest misconception about me, and I never know how to talk about it except to just trauma dump, is that I didn\u2019t know my dad until I was 16,\u201d she told hosts Alicia Marie and Remi Cruz.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy dad left when I was 4, and then I didn\u2019t meet him again until I was 16,” Greer explained. \u201cTechnically, I saw him once when I was 11, and I ran. It was in a blockbuster. I ran away.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very interesting because I do have very specific memories of my dad from when I was young,\u201d she added. \u201cI remember going to Frasier at one point and wondering why the girls in the back kept redoing the scene…Then I think my mom took me out of the audience because I was loud.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a memory of going to a party at my dad\u2019s. I have a memory of him going to my preschool play of The Wizard of Oz<\/a>, which he also remembers, because we\u2019ve talked about it…But those are all very specific. I can see them when I think about them, but after that, I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Greer went on to reveal that it wasn’t until she ran into Kelsey at a Christmas tree lot at the age of 16 that she reconnected with her father again. “He came up to me and said, \u2018Are you Greer?\u2019 And I said, \u2018Yes, I am.\u2019 And then he went, \u2018I\u2019m \u2013 .\u2019 And I was like, \u2018I know who you are. Duh.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Since that moment of reuniting, Kelsey and Greer have appeared in public together multiple times since. She even appeared on the second and final season of the Frasier revival last year. Here’s a picture of them in 2017:<\/p>\n

Still, Greer admitted that she is working through the estrangement in therapy. \u201cOf course, my therapist was like, \u2018Do you remember when you knew that your dad wasn\u2019t a part of your life anymore? Did your mom ever sit you down?’\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t think so.’ She was like, \u2018You should ask her about that.’ I was like, \u2018No. I think my brain\u2019s probably blocking it out for a reason.’\u201d<\/p>\n
