Hermann \/ MTA New York City Transit<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>New Yorkers can score a free OMNY card at select train stations throughout the city, the MTA said on Friday.\n<\/p>\n<p>The promo coincides with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/nyc-transit\/mta-revises-subway-bus-fare-hike-plan-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">end of MetroCard sales on Dec. 31<\/a>. The first 400 straphangers to transfer their MetroCard balances at MTA customer service centers throughout the five boroughs starting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, will not have to pay for the new OMNY card; without the free giveaway, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/omny.info\/omny-card\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">price of an OMNY<\/a> card ranges from $1 to $5. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The promotion also takes place before the MTA\u2019s scheduled bus and subway fare hike in January; fares will increase from the current $2.90 to $3.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we prepare to say goodbye to the MetroCard, we want to make sure customers are aware of all the resources available at our growing number of customer service centers across the subway system,\u201d MTA Chief Customer Officer Shanifah Rieara said. \u201cCome to one of our existing centers to exchange your MetroCard for a fee-free OMNY card and experience the ease of tap and ride.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The free OMNY cards will not have trip value pre-loaded.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>Where the first 400 commuters can get a free OMNY card<br \/>\nThe Bronx<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">161 St-Yankee Stadium<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Fordham Rd.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Parkchester<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Brooklyn<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Atlantic Ave.-Barclays Center<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Coney Island-Stillwell Ave.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Myrtle-Wyckoff Ave.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Manhattan\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>34 St-Penn Station<\/li>\n<li>125 St.<\/li>\n<li>168 St.<\/li>\n<li>Fulton St.<\/li>\n<li>Grand Central-42nd St.<\/li>\n<li>Times Square-42nd St.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Queens<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Flushing-Main St.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Ave.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Sutphin Blvd.-Archer Ave.-JFK Airport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Staten Island<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">St. George Staten Island Railway (open Monday to Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re making it as easy as possible for riders to switch to tap-and-ride by offering fee-free OMNY cards to the first 400 customers who exchange their MetroCards at customer service centers throughout the system,\u201d Demetrius Crichlow, NYC Transit president, said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the MTA said MetroCards will still be accepted into 2026; the final acceptance date has yet to be announced.
