I would have liked to have seen him perform years ago to demonstrate how one of rock\u2019s premiere singers ACTUALLY ROCKS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dennis DeYoung in a selfie. I have said this repeatedly for decades: Just change the damn name,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/08\/entertainment\/how-to-watch-the-2025-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-induction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The 2025 Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony<\/a> took place in Cleveland on Nov. 8, but Rodgers, 75, was unable to attend due to health issues stemming from multiple previous strokes.<\/p>\n<p>DeYoung said that Rodgers\u2019 absence from the ceremony was proof of \u201cthe tragic manner in which this joint operates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paul Rodgers of Bad Company performing in New Jersey in 2018. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaking so many musicians wait until they either incapacitated or dead is shameful,\u201d he stated. \u201cJoe Cocker, Warren Zevon et al are suddenly eligible decades after their success? Explain that, what\u2019s changed except the Hall\u2019s inability to let go of their clear prejudices and induct them? They now admit, when it\u2019s far too late that they have erred. Have Joe, Warren and others recently become more popular? \u2026no.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Hall\u2019s initial mission statement about who qualifies was always a ruse and a joke concocted to protect their own personal choices. John Atashian\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The Post has reached out to the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame for comment.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/rockhall.com\/induction-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website,<\/a> artists eligible for nomination\u00a0\u201cmust have released their first commercial recording 25 full years prior to the year of Induction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Cyndi Lauper, Joe Cocker, Outkast, Soundgarden and The White Stripes were among the 2025 inductees at this year\u2019s ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Simon Kirke of Bad Company speaks in the press room during the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Getty Images for RRHOF<\/p>\n<p>Styx still hasn\u2019t been inducted into the\u00a0Hall of Fame, which DeYoung addressed in a 2020 interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/dennis-deyoung-interview-styx-interview-solo-album-mr-roboto-968709\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rolling Stone.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because we deserve to be. I do,\u201d he explained. \u201cThe people who raise the money and got it, those people have the right to put who they want in there. It\u2019s their deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DeYoung added, \u201cBut in recent years, too many of our peers have gotten the nod. Is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the be all, end all?
