{"id":385104,"date":"2025-11-17T11:37:12","date_gmt":"2025-11-17T11:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/385104\/"},"modified":"2025-11-17T11:37:12","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T11:37:12","slug":"fake-weight-loss-products-under-the-microscope","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/385104\/","title":{"rendered":"Fake weight-loss products under the microscope"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The regulator says<br \/>\nnon-compliant GLP-1 products are being promoted on social media as quick<br \/>\nslimming solutions.<\/p>\n<p>The authority says it has<br \/>\nnot approved ANY oral GLP-1 products for use in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>ALSO READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecr.co.za\/news\/news\/authorities-clamp-down-fake-goods-kzn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Authorities clamp down on fake goods in KZN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It warns that<br \/>\nunregistered medicine may contain harmful or undisclosed ingredients.<\/p>\n<p>Selling or advertising<br \/>\nthese products is illegal under the Medicines and Related Substances Act.<\/p>\n<p>SAHPRA spokesperson Yuven<br \/>\nGounden says they will continue clamping down on illegal sales.<\/p>\n<p>He has urged the public<br \/>\nto only buy medicines only from licensed pharmacies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSAHPRA has become aware<br \/>\nof companies illegally marketing these products claimed to be authorised by<br \/>\nSAHPRA and major retail pharmacies. These claims are untrue.
