Last week, Concord modders announced<\/a> they had gotten custom servers online for the hero shooter over a year after Sony infamously shut the game down<\/a>. While Concord failed to gain the audience Sony was hoping for, it was really cool to think the game might get to live on thanks to fans\u2019 efforts, but it seems like Sony isn\u2019t as keen to let it come back. The team of modders who are working on the unofficial revival were hit with copyright claims on their YouTube videos showcasing the game running on the new fan servers.<\/p>\n

As TheGamePost<\/a> reports, the two videos in question have been taken down after a copyright claim from MarkScan Enforcement, an anti-piracy and IP protection firm that files DMCAs on platforms like YouTube and Instagram. For the moment, the takedowns have affected only the YouTube videos, not the actual Concord revival project itself. Despite this, the group does seem a bit spooked and has paused invites to its Discord server where it has been providing updates on the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to worrying legal action we\u2019ve decided to pause invites for the time being,\u201d Red, one of the developers working on the mod, said on the Concord Delta Discord server.<\/p>\n

If Sony does try to shut the whole project down, that\u2019s some next-level pettiness toward fans trying to keep one of its games alive at no cost to PlayStation. You could argue that Concord is Sony\u2019s IP and it might not want it in the hands of anyone else, even if it doesn\u2019t plan to do anything with it in the future. But even games most people didn\u2019t like don\u2019t deserve to just fall off the face of the earth when developers spent years of their lives working on them.
