{"id":385753,"date":"2025-11-17T18:12:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-17T18:12:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/385753\/"},"modified":"2025-11-17T18:12:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T18:12:11","slug":"veronika-slowikowska-luke-kirby-to-star-in-comedy-close-to-nowhere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/385753\/","title":{"rendered":"Veronika Slowikowska &#038; Luke Kirby To Star In Comedy &#8216;Close To Nowhere&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>EXCLUSIVE:<\/strong> Recent SNL addition <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/veronika-slowikowska\/\" id=\"auto-tag_veronika-slowikowska\" data-tag=\"veronika-slowikowska\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Veronika Slowikowska<\/a> and Emmy winner <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/luke-kirby\/\" id=\"auto-tag_luke-kirby\" data-tag=\"luke-kirby\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Luke Kirby<\/a> (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Deuce) are set to topline <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/close-to-nowhere\/\" id=\"auto-tag_close-to-nowhere\" data-tag=\"close-to-nowhere\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Close to Nowhere<\/a>, an indie comedy marking the feature directorial debut of <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/samantha-carroll\/\" id=\"auto-tag_samantha-carroll\" data-tag=\"samantha-carroll\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Samantha Carroll<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBased on an original idea Carroll developed over several years, Close to Nowhere follows small-town Coco (Slowikowska), who, while struggling with unfulfilled artistic ambitions, concocts fake psychic abilities in an effort to impress a famous writer (Kirby).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe ensemble also includes Isabelle Barbier (The Other Two), Jack Bensinger (The Bear), Deborah Rush (You\u2019ve Got Mail), Lindsay Burdge (A Teacher), Jonas Gindin (Lurker), and Natalie Paul (You).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tProducers on the project are Jonathan Grace, Jessica DiMento, Peter Heres, and Javier Gonzalez, with Carroll exec producing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tA Chapman University Dodge College grad, Carroll first met key collaborators there, including producer Heres and DP Seannie Bryan. Now based in New York, she\u2019s had shorts screen at venues across NY and LA\u00a0\u2014 most recently Isaac, which was featured on NoBudge. She is repped by Luber Roklin Entertainment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOne month into her first season as a featured player on Saturday Night Live, Slowikowska is a comedian and actress also known for starring as Kelly, the love interest to Shane Gillis, on Netflix\u2019s Tires. She has nearly two million followers across Instagram and TikTok, with additional screen credits including FX\u2019s What We Do in the Shadows and Peacock\u2019s Poker Face. She is repped by Artists First, UTA, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tKirby won an Emmy for his portrayal of Lenny Bruce on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and recently reunited with Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino on Amazon\u2019s ballet-themed series \u00c9toile. Up next, he stars opposite Julia Garner in Season 2 of The Last Thing He Told Me, premiering February 20, 2026.
