Diane Ladd\u2019s cause of death has been revealed two weeks after the Oscar-nominated actress died on Nov. 3<\/a> at the age of 89.<\/p>\n

Ladd, who was \u201cJurassic Park\u201d star Laura Dern\u2019s mother, died from acute chronic hypoxic respiratory failure, according to a death certificate obtained by People<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n

Respiratory failure occurs when there\u2019s not enough oxygen or too much carbon dioxide in the body, per the Cleveland Clinic<\/a>. It can happen all at once (acute) or come on over time (chronic), and is most often the result of a lung condition.<\/p>\n

The certificate noted that the \u201cChinatown\u201d actress suffered from interstitial lung disease for years before her death, and esophageal dysmotility was listed as another significant factor contributing to her passing.<\/p>\n

Ladd was cremated on Nov. 10, according to her death certificate.<\/p>\n

Laura, whom Ladd shared with ex-husband Bruce Dern, announced the \u201cAlice Doesn\u2019t Live Here Anymore\u201d star\u2019s death in a statement on Nov. 3.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cMy amazing hero and my profound gift of a mother, Diane Ladd, passed with me beside her this morning, at her home in Ojai, California,\u201d Laura, 58, began.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created,\u201d the \u201cBlue Velvet\u201d actress added. \u201cWe were blessed to have her. She is flying with her angels now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ladd earned her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for Martin Scorsese\u2019s \u201cAlice Doesn\u2019t Live Here Anymore\u201d in 1974. <\/p>\n

She was later nominated two more times in the same category for \u201cWild at Heart\u201d (1990) and \u201cRambling Rose\u201d (1991) \u2013 two movies she also happened to star in with her famous daughter.<\/p>\n

Besides earning three Oscar nods throughout her more than six-decade acting career, Ladd also earned three Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe nomination as well.<\/p>\n

Bruce Dern, 89,\u00a0later remembered his ex-wife<\/a>\u00a0with a touching tribute following the news of her passing.<\/p>\n

The pair married in 1960 and welcomed daughters Diane and Laura before divorcing in 1969. <\/p>\n

Diane tragically passed away in a swimming pool accident at 18 months old, and her death led to Ladd and Bruce\u2019s split after nine years of marriage.<\/p>\n

\u201cDiane was a tremendous actress and I feel like, a bit of a \u2018hidden treasure\u2019 until she ran into David Lynch,\u201d the \u201cNebraska\u201d star said in a statement. \u201cWhen he cast her as Laura\u2018s mom in\u00a0\u2018Wild at Heart\u2019\u00a0it felt like the world then really understood her brilliance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was a great value as a decades-long board member of SAG, giving a real actress\u2019 point of view,\u201d he continued. \u201cShe lived a good life. She saw everything the way it was. She was a great teammate to her fellow actors. She was funny, clever, gracious.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bruce concluded his tribute by thanking Ladd for being a \u201cwonderful\u201d mom<\/a> to their daughter Laura.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut most importantly to me, she was a wonderful mother to our incredible wunderkind daughter,\u201d the \u201cGreat Gatsby\u201d star concluded. \u201cAnd for that I will be forever grateful to her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ladd tied the knot with William A. Shea Jr. shortly after her split from Bruce. The pair divorced eight years later in 1976.<\/p>\n

The \u201cNational Lampoon\u2019s Christmas Vacation\u201d star went on to marry her third husband, Robert Charles Hunter, in 1999.
