\n\tSeth Meyers<\/a> delivered a signature wry response to the president\u2019s over-the-weekend public lashing, describing Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s public call for the late-night host to be fired<\/a> a \u201cthoughtful piece of fan mail.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOpening his \u201cA Closer Look<\/a>\u201d segment on Late Night With Seth Meyers<\/a>, the comedian joked about the novelty of getting a shoutout on the news as a result: \u201cYou guys! They said my name on TV! It\u2019s not often you hear the name Seth Meyers on TV before midnight. Now, as I\u2019ve said before, I prefer to handle these situations the way you handle an angry driver who honks and flips you off on the highway \u2014 you just ignore them \u2014 unless you\u2019re in New Jersey, then, technically, that\u2019s a marriage proposal.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBut, honestly, Meyers added, he wasn\u2019t bothered by the attack, which is the latest in a line of Truth Social posts<\/a> Trump has made censuring the comic. Meyers maintained he has plenty in common with other public figures on Trump\u2019s bad side, most of whom are embroiled in the ongoing MAGA feud concerning the release of the Jeffrey Epstein<\/a> files.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m also aware that being attacked by the president this weekend doesn\u2019t make me special in any way, shape or form; I was simply on the same sh\u2013list as Christopher Wray, James Comey, Indiana Republicans, Thomas Massie, Rand Paul, Marjorie Taylor Greene<\/a> and and former President Joe Biden,\u201d he explained. \u201cIn fact, the only person who Trump didn\u2019t seem to be mad at was Sean Connery, as he posted a 2008 article about Connery praising Trump\u2019s golf course with the words \u2018Blast from the past!\u2019 And I think it\u2019s a bad sign when the most positive thing someone said about you this weekend was from an article 17 years old by a man who died five years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tContinuing, the host said he wanted to \u201cclarify that I take no issue with the president voicing his displeasure with my show: That is his right, and on a lot of nights, he\u2019s got a point!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSpecifically, Meyers wanted to give some grammar advice, singling out Trump\u2019s dangling modifier: \u201cHe was viewed last night in an uncontrollable rage.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhat\u2019s with the passive voice, my man? I was viewed by who? Was it you, who viewed me? And did you view me exhibiting an uncontrollable rage, or did viewing me send you into an uncontrollable rage?\u201d he questioned, adding, \u201cIt sounds like something a dowager countess says in a Victorian murder-mystery while she\u2019s staring out the drawing room windows.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMeyers did note that he was \u201cconfused\u201d about what Trump was exactly mad about, given that his Saturday Truth Social post seemed to be referring to Friday\u2019s episode, which was a repeat airing of a previous show that had already elicited the GOP leader\u2019s ire.<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd while Meyers said the POTUS \u201ccan\u2019t get mad a second time for the same thing,\u201d he did take the assertion he\u2019s \u201csuffering from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS)\u201d rather \u201cseriously,\u201d the host said, \u201cbecause you\u2019re clearly a medical expert, as evidenced by your description of your recent MRI.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMeyers concluded, referring to the spat between Trump and Greene, which reached a fever pitch over the weekend: \u201cI can\u2019t believe I\u2019m saying this, but I finally have something in common with Marjorie Taylor Greene. You know, Trump\u2019s really bringing the country together.
