{"id":387085,"date":"2025-11-18T07:48:14","date_gmt":"2025-11-18T07:48:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/387085\/"},"modified":"2025-11-18T07:48:14","modified_gmt":"2025-11-18T07:48:14","slug":"backyard-on-broadway-to-give-300-meal-packages-to-snap-cardholders-tuesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/387085\/","title":{"rendered":"Backyard on Broadway to give 300 meal packages to SNAP cardholders Tuesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN ANTONIO &#8211; A popular restaurant is stepping up to support families struggling by giving away hundreds of free meals on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Backyard on Broadway will host a meal distribution event on Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The restaurant will provide 300 complete meal packages to households that show a SNAP card and a matching photo ID.<\/p>\n<p>Chef-owner Ohio Crawford said the decision to host the giveaway came from hearing how the shutdown has affected people close to his staff.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhen families in our community are struggling to put food on the table, we can\u2019t just stand by,\u201d Crawford said. \u201cWe call ourselves a family-friendly restaurant, and that has to mean something. If we can\u2019t support families in times of need, then those are just empty words.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Each meal package will include a large handcrafted pizza, a family-sized salad, cookies, a gallon of Red Fassionola lemonade, bottled water, and additional canned goods.
