SAN ANTONIO \u2014 The Las Palmas Branch Library reopened Monday, signaling the completion of a nearly 3-year, $7 million renovation project. \u00a0<\/p>\n
The library closed its doors in March 2023 to make way for renovations funded by the City of San Antonio 2017 and 202 Bond programs with additional funding through the San Antonio Public Library Foundation. In addition to a 2,000-square-foot expansion housing an H-E-B Community Room, the updated facility features renovated and relocated teen and children\u2019s areas, technology upgrades and restroom renovations.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m honored to welcome our community back to the renovated and expanded Las Palmas Branch Library,\u201d said Library Director Sukrit Goswami in a statement. \u201cThe branch has long been a cornerstone for Westside families, students, and neighbors, and now it\u2019s ready to serve in even bigger and better ways.\u201d<\/p>\n
Las Palmas Branch Library first opened in 1969 and moved to its current location in 1994. The library was last renovated in 2009.<\/p>\n
Full services have now resumed, and a grand reopening is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will feature a ribbon cutting, family-friendly activities, food and performances. \u00a0<\/p>\n
