Police have arrested a 22-year-old man — and charged him with murder and related offenses — after a double shooting last month along Packer Avenue at Broad Street in South Philadelphia<\/a> left one man dead and put another in the hospital. <\/p>\n

According to police, on Monday, investigators apprehended Abou Keita, 22, in a parked vehicle along the 2200 block of South Felton Street in Southwest Philadelphia. He was taken into custody without incident, officials said. <\/p>\n

He has been charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and related offenses after a shooting that happened in South Philadelphia on Oct. 9, 2025. <\/p>\n

In that incident, officials said, officers responded to the 1300 block of Packer Avenue to find 23-year-old Hasson Mason suffering from gunshot wounds to his face and body. He died shortly after being taken to a nearby hospital, officials said. <\/p>\n

A second victim of the same shooting, officials said, was located in front of Chickie’s & Pete’s restaurant along the 1500 block of Packer Avenue that evening. This victim, a 23-year-old man, was hospitalized in stable condition after being shot in the torso, officials said. <\/p>\n

Police officials said, at the time, that investigators recovered 21 spent shell casings from a semi-automatic firearm along with a loaded clip at the scene of the shooting. <\/p>\n

A four-door sedan was found running, at the scene, with at least 15 bullet holes in the driver’s side and rear windshield, officials said, as well.<\/p>\n
