\"Grim Grim discovery in Maryvale prompts arrest<\/a> <\/p>\n

A man has been arrested, according to police, after he told officers outside a police station in Maryvale that his girlfriend was dead, and her body was in the back of his truck. FOX 10’s Ashlie Rodriguez reports.<\/p>\n

PHOENIX<\/strong> – An investigation is underway after police say a woman was found dead inside a car outside a Maryvale police station.<\/p>\n

What we know:<\/p>\n

According to police, a man flagged down an officer outside the police station near 59th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard<\/a> just after 5 a.m. on Nov. 18.<\/p>\n

The man reportedly told police his girlfriend was dead inside the back of his vehicle.<\/p>\n

“After inspecting the vehicle, an adult female was located suffering from obvious signs of trauma,” police<\/strong><\/a> said. “Phoenix Fire responded and pronounced the woman deceased.”<\/p>\n

The victim reportedly suffered a gunshot wound.<\/p>\n

As for the victim’s purported boyfriend, police said he admitted to the murder, and led them to where it allegedly happened: a home near 71st Avenue and Thomas Road. Another investigative unit was then sent to that scene.<\/p>\n

“When you\u2019re a patrol officer, you don\u2019t expect somebody to come to you and just tell you that there\u2019s an individual deceased in the back of the truck and that you\u2019re responsible for, so I\u2019m sure those officers were perplexed,” said Sgt. Brian Bower with the Phoenix Police Department.<\/p>\n

No identities were released. It’s unknown how the woman died.<\/p>\n

What they’re saying:<\/p>\n

People living in the area of the original crime scene were stunned to wake up to the commotion, and expressed shock over what allegedly happened.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s sad. It\u2019s so sad. I wish nothing but peace for her and her family. It\u2019s not a good situation for anyone to be in,” said one area resident.<\/p>\n

What’s next:<\/p>\n

According to police, the man’s confession doesn’t make this a closed case, as the story can change.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, detectives will still have to gather evidence and get witness testimonies.<\/p>\n
