{"id":389945,"date":"2025-11-19T13:09:23","date_gmt":"2025-11-19T13:09:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/389945\/"},"modified":"2025-11-19T13:09:23","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T13:09:23","slug":"speed-limit-reductions-proposed-for-7-roadways-in-tempe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/389945\/","title":{"rendered":"Speed limit reductions proposed for 7 roadways in Tempe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX \u2014 The city of Tempe is exploring changes to speed limits on seven roadways and asking for public input about the possible reductions.<\/p>\n<p>Two meetings will be held on Dec. 9, one at noon and the other at 6 p.m. at the Pyle Adult Recreation Center.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tempe.gov\/government\/transportation-and-sustainability\/transportation\/proposed-speed-limit-changes?utm_source=City+of+Tempe&amp;utm_campaign=394ea41676-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2025_11_17_06_20&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_-394ea41676-61448405\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proposed changes<\/a> would impact the following roads:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Broadway Road from Terrace Road to the east city limit would be reduced from 45 mph to 40 mph<\/li>\n<li>Broadway Road from Priest Drive to the west city limit would be reduced from 45 mph to 40 mph<\/li>\n<li>Priest Drive from Alameda Drive to Baseline Road would be reduced from 45 mph to 40 mph<\/li>\n<li>Guadalupe Road from Kyrene Road to the east city limit would be reduced from 45 mph to 40 mph<\/li>\n<li>Veterans Way\/Fifth Street from University Drive to Farmer Avenue would be reduced from 30 mph to 25 mph<\/li>\n<li>Miller Road would be reduced from the north city limit to Curry Road from 35 mph to 30 mph<\/li>\n<li>McKellips Road would be reduced from College Avenue to Scottsdale Road from 40 mph to 35 mph<\/li>\n<li>Roosevelt Street would be reduced from Broadway Road to Southern Avenue from 35 mph to 30 mph<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Proposals for the speed limit changes were discussed during a Sept. 9 Transportation Commission meeting and during a council presentation on Nov. 13.<\/p>\n<p>Following the public meeting on Dec. 9, the proposals will go through two public hearings at the Tempe City Council on Jan. 22 and Feb. 5.<\/p>\n<p>The final vote could occur during the Feb. 5 meeting and, if approved, would be implemented 30 days later.<\/p>\n<p>Get the latest KTAR News 92.3 FM\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ktar.com\/text-alerts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">traffic alerts<\/a>\u00a0sent straight to your phone by texting \u201cTRAFFIC\u201d to 620620.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tomkuebelaz\" data-show-count=\"false\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Follow @tomkuebelaz<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We want to hear from you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px;\">Have a story idea or tip?
