{"id":389953,"date":"2025-11-19T13:13:13","date_gmt":"2025-11-19T13:13:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/389953\/"},"modified":"2025-11-19T13:13:13","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T13:13:13","slug":"chicagos-2025-michelin-stars-include-feld-a-ukrainian-village-newcomer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/389953\/","title":{"rendered":"Chicago\u2019s 2025 Michelin Stars Include Feld, A Ukrainian Village Newcomer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CHICAGO \u2014 There\u2019s a new Michelin star in town.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blockclubchicago.org\/2024\/06\/27\/feld-ukrainian-villages-newest-restaurant-opens-friday-with-an-ever-evolving-tasting-menu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Feld \u2014 a tasting-menu restaurant in Ukrainian Village<\/a> where diners sit theater-in-the-round-style as course upon course is served from the middle of the room \u2014 snagged its first star, the <a href=\"https:\/\/guide.michelin.com\/us\/en\/article\/michelin-guide-ceremony\/michelin-stars-in-the-michelin-guide-chicago-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Michelin Guide announced<\/a> at a Tuesday night ceremony in Philadelphia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The honor, bestowed annually on the nation\u2019s finest restaurants, comes about 16 months after chef and owner Jake Potashnick opened <a href=\"https:\/\/www.feldrestaurant.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Feld<\/a> at 2018 W. Chicago Ave., a process he chronicled, diary-style, on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@notyetachef\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">TikTok<\/a>, building buzz and an audience well in advance of the opening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt may be in the city \u2014 Chicago\u2019s Ukrainian Village neighborhood, to be specific \u2014 but Feld is focused on the farm, sourcing most products from within a four-hour radius,\u201d reads the Michelin Guide\u2019s entry for Feld.<\/p>\n<p>Potashnick had reason for an extra celebratory toast Tuesday: Feld was also named a Michelin \u201cGreen Star\u201d in recognition of its sustainability practices, along with <a href=\"https:\/\/blockclubchicago.org\/2023\/03\/28\/popular-pasta-restaurant-daisies-reopens-wednesday-in-huge-new-logan-square-spot\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daisies<\/a> in Logan Square.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/No-Place-Like-Kasama-Key-Still2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-477884\"\/>Chefs Tim Flores and Genie Kwon opened Kasama in 2020, drawing accolades \u2014 and long lines \u2014 since. Credit: Provided<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blockclubchicago.org\/2020\/07\/28\/this-has-been-our-dream-kasama-filipino-restaurant-opening-in-east-ukrainian-village\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Kasama chefs\u00a0Tim Flores and Genie Kwon<\/a> can relate to Potashnick\u2019s Michelin newcomer status.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The couple <a href=\"https:\/\/blockclubchicago.org\/2022\/05\/05\/no-place-like-kasama-premieres-in-chicago-next-week-telling-the-story-of-new-michelin-starred-restaurant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">earned their first star in 2022<\/a>, the first Filipino restaurant in the United States to do so. On Tuesday, they learned their popular bakery by day, restaurant by night had been elevated to two stars. Just a few weeks ago, Flores and Kwon were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DQzFkbgk_ah\/?hl=en&amp;img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">in the Philippines<\/a>, cooking at a gala to celebrate the launch of the Michelin Guide in that country.<\/p>\n<p>Their East Ukrainian Village restaurant joins <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ever-restaurant.com\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">Ever<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oriolechicago.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Oriole<\/a> in the West Loop and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alinearestaurant.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Alinea<\/a> in Lincoln Park as Chicago\u2019s two-Michelin star establishments.<\/p>\n<p>For Alinea \u2014 arguably Chicago\u2019s most famous and acclaimed restaurant \u2014 \u00a0two stars is somewhat unfamiliar territory. It has had three Michelin stars since 2010.
