Want to teach your child responsibility or just want to pitch in yourself?<\/p>\n
You can volunteer on Saturday to help clean up Jacksonville\u2019s beaches after Friday\u2019s busy Fourth of July festivities and fireworks celebration.<\/p>\n
The city of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful are partnering with the Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol for the annual July 5th Beaches Cleanup following the Independence Day holiday.<\/p>\n
Volunteers will pick up trash and other debris along the shoreline from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday (weather permitting).<\/p>\n
Children can join in, but they must be accompanied by an adult.<\/p>\n
All volunteers should wear sturdy footwear and sun protection and bring drinking water.<\/p>\n
Last year, 120 volunteers invested 240 hours of their time to collect 50 bags, or 1,750 pounds of debris.<\/p>\n
Advance registration is NOT required for the event. <\/p>\n
Litter collection bags and gloves will be distributed to volunteers at the following locations:<\/p>\n
Atlantic Boulevard at the ocean, Atlantic Beach<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Beach Boulevard at the ocean, Jacksonville Beach<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
16th Avenue North at the ocean, Jacksonville Beach<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
