When Jacksonville Police Officer Elyse Hand approached Bobby Michael Dennis, Dennis grabbed a rifle and started shooting.<\/p>\n

Dennis, 64, reportedly shot<\/a> Hand and her K-9 the evening of November 2, as The Dallas Express reported. After a statewide manhunt and a $10,000 reward, police captured him on November 5.<\/p>\n

While Dennis\u2019 escape with the law has ended, Hand\u2019s journey toward healing has just begun. She shared<\/a> her story on Facebook on November 16.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so incredibly blessed and thankful to be alive,\u201d Hand wrote<\/a>. \u201cI have full faith and trust in my God and know that all of this happened for a reason and is a part of His plan for me and this will be my testimony. And that is how I am doing okay.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

She said she was shot twice, struck by two .566 rounds \u2013 one of which is in her right arm, and the other of which went through her leg. She has undergone two surgeries.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Her leg has a \u201cwound vac,\u201d which helps<\/a> the healing process for large wounds. Hand said this is \u201chelping close the chunk of my leg that is missing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the shooting severed her right arm\u2019s Ulnar Nerve, which controls<\/a> grip and fine motor skills, by 85%.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have no feeling or movement in my right arm, hand, or fingers,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Her K-9, Renzo, was also shot. He went through two surgeries and is now recovering well. Hand said her friends are watching him while she recovers. She said this has helped \u201ctremendously.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAll that to say, I have received so much love and support,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s heart warming and has made me feel so incredibly loved and supported.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hand believes in the \u201cpower of prayer,\u201d and asked specifically for the \u201cspontaneous return of function in my right arm and hand. And that I get no infections in my leg,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She thanked people for the prayers, donations, support, and love.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got a lil boy to chase around and although a momma is going to figure it out, it\u2019s a lot harder one-handed, weak hand at that,\u201d Hand wrote.<\/p>\n

Hand said the battle does not fall upon herself or others, and called people to ignore those who cannot comprehend right from wrong.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight is right. Wrong is wrong,\u201d <\/strong>Hand\u00a0said. \u201cAnd evil will be paid for in the end.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Soon after the shooting, Hand posted a video<\/a> from the hospital with her son.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have no words\u2026 Thank you God for letting my son have his mom,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI can\u2019t even begin to thank each one of you for your support.
