ROCHESTER, N.Y. \u2014\u00a0Juggling three jobs, Jaden Simms says he started his career with TNT Fireworks only a year ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cI work with people in every aspect of my life and I love them, I love people,\u201d Simms said. \u201cThere’s a lot of revenue that comes with this type of thing. This is a sole proprietorship. So you get to keep a percentage of the sales you make. So that’s a motivator for you to sell more and learn about your product.\u201d<\/p>\n
But as Jaden is on the streets selling the merchandise, his brother Jay Simms is the one testing them.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt takes hours to do because last time I did it, it took six hours to do,\u201d pyrotechnician Jay Simms said. \u201cWe test it out, because if you don’t, then that’s going to turn out to be a whole different situation.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Starting a career as a pyrotechnician for several years, he has always been a fan of the Fourth of July.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy dad actually was the one who introduced me to fireworks, like, because he brings red torpedoes at us and then he usually throws them on the ground,\u201d Jay said. \u201cWe were wondering what that was. That’s what made us obsessed with fireworks.\u201d<\/p>\n
But because of Jay’s autism, this has become a challenge that he has learned to overcome and love.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t know until I was 12 years old,\u201d Jay said. \u201cI’m still who I am. But at the same time, I learned how to control it. Be more mature. I learned that from my brother. Because he knows what he’s up against. So when I learn from him, it makes me feel more confident and inspiring me to keep moving forward.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

A few things have changed, like the tariffs, but one thing is for sure, as people keep coming back for the search of thrills and spirit of patriotism, the Simms will always have dynamite in their blood.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI love watching fireworks,\u201d Jaden said. \u201cAnd my brother, my older brother, he’s always had a love for fireworks.
