He was initially arrested in June, after Joss was fatally shot near his Texas home.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to a police report, Alvarez <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kens5.com\/article\/news\/local\/i-shot-him-suspect-in-death-of-actor-jonathan-joss-confessed-to-shooting-sapd-report-says\/273-f4100b65-f3e8-465c-ab56-8c23055f45bf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">confessed<\/a> to the murder the night it happened. Officers say the suspect told them, &#8220;I shot him&#8221; as he was being detained.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Police had been dispatched to a home in south San Antonio about 7 p.m. on Jun. 1 on a shooting in progress call. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the wounded 59-year-old actor near the street.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe officers attempted life saving measures until EMS arrived. EMS pronounced the victim deceased,\u201d San Antonio police said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"photo__placeholder\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/c99259c9-66d2-4b2c-8f6d-bf4602cb0ffc_16x9.jpg\"\/><br \/>\n                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"photo__main\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/c99259c9-66d2-4b2c-8f6d-bf4602cb0ffc_1140x641.jpg\"  alt=\"\" style=\"opacity:0\" onload=\"this.style.opacity=1\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Joss\u2019 death was confirmed by his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was murdered,\u201d de Gonzales told The Associated Press in a text. The two were married earlier this year on Valentine\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, de Gonzales said that before the shooting, he and Joss were checking mail at Joss\u2019 home, which had been heavily damaged during a January fire that claimed the lives of their three dogs. A man approached the two and threatened them with a gun, de Gonzales said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life,\u201d de Gonzales said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Joss, who grew up in San Antonio, was best known as the voice of John Redcorn, a Native American character on the popular \u201cKing of the Hill\u201d animated series that ran for 13 seasons from 1997 to 2008. A reboot of the show began in August.<\/p>\n<p>Joss also had a recurring role on the television show \u201cParks and Recreation,\u201d playing Chief Ken Hotate.
