That\u2019s because certain things \u2014 rare reggae records, German cuckoo clocks, dried exotic fruits \u2014 are better appreciated in person and often sell quickly. Here are some of the most interesting, delightful shops for gifts you won\u2019t find online.<\/p>\n<p>\n      The Strategist Holiday Gift Guide<\/p>\n<p>        <a href=\"https:\/\/nymag.com\/strategist\/tags\/holiday-gift-issue-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n          <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"package-toc-photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/de5e0fd4be3595b80568e339a8b7a784d5-cc-4b5-type-single.2x.rvertical.w330.gif\" alt=\"package-table-of-contents-photo\"\/><br \/>\n        <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"nymag.com\/strategist\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmi69j6ps00193b78z2nawti2@published\" data-word-count=\"29\">Tucked into a Chinatown jewelry mall, Tommy Fung\u2019s stall stocks a huge selection of charms, including local sports insignia, a chunky sewer grate, and a Basquiat crown. (82 Bowery)<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"nymag.com\/strategist\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmi69j70n001b3b78pmbukyqz@published\" data-word-count=\"31\">Claude-No\u00eblle Toly and William Nuckel\u2019s shop opened in a former grocery store in the West Village in 1987 and sells Proven\u00e7al pottery, folk art, and antique furniture. (299 W. 4th St.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"nymag.com\/strategist\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmi69j73z001d3b7839vbcuxb@published\" data-word-count=\"33\">Known for carrying Akari light sculptures, the museum shop is also one of the only places in the U.S. to buy boxes of incense from Kungyokudo, Japan\u2019s oldest incense-maker. (9-01 33rd Rd., Astoria)<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"nymag.com\/strategist\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmi69j79y001f3b78ixx56yef@published\" data-word-count=\"38\">Owner Nina Allen is responsible for discovering and importing many of the brands you\u2019ll find in design shops, but this is her own collection, including Italian textiles from Lanificio Leo and charming German cuckoo clocks. He\u2019s the grandson of Clement S. Dodd, who founded Studio One Records, where Bob Marley recorded his first album in 1965 (rare vinyl from the studio is on offer too).
