Lainey Wilson was the host of the CMAs on Wednesday night, and the show really turned into a showcase for the star.<\/p>\n
She put on an impressive performance, too, singing several times, and zipping through it all with ease. Along the way, she also got plenty of love when it came to the awards. Wilson\u2019s \u201cWhirlwind\u201d took home CMA Album of the Year, and she also won Female Artist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year.<\/p>\n
It was that last honor \u2014 Entertainer of the Year \u2014 that did not sit well with a lot of folks. It seems many felt that Morgan Wallen, who has has dominated the charts this year, should have gotten the award. And they let their thoughts be known on social media. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe are thrilled to announce the #CMAawards Entertainer of the Year is @LaineyWilson!\u201d the CMAs posted on X. \u201cJoin us in congratulating Lainey on this tremendous honor!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThey didn\u2019t give it to (Morgan Wallen) because they know he wasn\u2019t going to attend this fraudulent event,\u201d one person replied. \u201cCMA sends a clear message to artists \u2018play ball with us and you will be rewarded.\u2019 Lainey will play ball, Morgan won\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAnyone else literally hear the crowd saying \u2018Morgan Wallen\u2019 as he was announcing the winner and they snub him,\u201d another replied. \u201cWhat a joke.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI love Lainey, but (Morgan Wallen) should have won! I\u2019m done with your rigged award show. #CMAAwards\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cRigged,\u201d another wrote. \u201cEveryone knows Morgan Wallen is the real entertainer of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n
There were plenty more comments like that, and you can see them all as well as the CMA\u2019s post on X here. <\/b><\/a><\/p>\n There were some folks who came to Wilson\u2019s defense.<\/p>\n \u201cY\u2019all clearly haven\u2019t seen Lainey perform!\u201d one person wrote. \u201cShe sells out shows, she gives it all form the time she walks on the stage till she walks off every night! Lainey is a true entertainer and deserves the award!!!!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cLainey cleaned up tonight in a field of amazing country artists,\u201d another wrote. \u201cThat\u2019s saying something. Great show. Great Presenters. Great performances.
