Local artists are putting their talents in action, painting murals near storm drains to call attention to stormwater pollution.&#8221;Stormwater is the fastest growing form of pollution in Pennsylvania, so it is something we want to educate more about,&#8221; said Jodi Sulpizio, a natural resources educator and a Master Watershed steward coordinator for Penn State Extension.Street 2 Creek has been putting murals all over the city since 2018. Local artists bring their best designs to the table, with an important environmental message front and center.&#8221;There&#8217;s an entire network of pipes under the surface of the ground. And when stormwater flows across the land, it goes into the drains and discharges into a nearby waterway.  In York City, it&#8217;s going into the Codorus Creek,&#8221; said Sulpizio.This is Heather Greenough&#8217;s second year painting a mural for Street 2 Creek. Her design this year carries the message &#8220;Make a Splash \u2014 Clean Up Trash.&#8221;  The design features a turtle on a dock.&#8221;He&#8217;s going down to the lake to go get some lunch or whatever, and he can&#8217;t because there&#8217;s trash everywhere.  This is where they eat, and we&#8217;re just trashing it up,&#8221; said Greenough.This mural was a winning design; Greenough&#8217;s second winning entry.  Community judges picked three entries to win, and the community voted for their pick in the people&#8217;s choice category.&#8221;I love downtown,&#8221; said Greenough.  &#8220;I think we need more of these because it&#8217;s just pretty and it raises awareness.&#8221;&#8221;Everyone uses a community.
