North Texas Republicans give Trump credit for passage of Big Beautiful Bill<\/a><\/p>\n\u201cI think the thing that helps people heal when they\u2019re in mourning is to be in community. And today feels like a dirge,\u201d Mitchell said. \u201cThis protest is not just for the general public, but it\u2019s for everybody who showed up to the protest to feel more galvanized, to feel like they\u2019re not alone, and to network and build community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Neha Ghael, 54, of Arlington, came to Friday\u2019s event with her parents, Pravin, 82, and Usha, 80. The three said they have attended several protests this year. <\/p>\n
Neha Ghael, who is a family medicine doctor, said the Trump administration\u2019s policies \u2014 including the tax bill that is expected to cut nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid \u2014 are slated to take health care away from those who need it the most.<\/p>\n
They said they are enraged by the administration\u2019s policies, especially on immigration enforcement, which has made Americans \u201cfearful of just walking around.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cWe should try to help people who can\u2019t help themselves,\u201d Usha Ghael said.<\/p>\n

Volunteers from Dallas County Volunteer Deputy Registrars were at the event to help attendees register to vote. <\/p>\n
Kate Evans, 64, of East Dallas, said she underwent training to become a volunteer earlier this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverybody needs to have a voice and power,\u201d Evans said. \u201cAnd voting is an important part of that power.\u201d<\/p>\n
Josh Pathisseril, 22, of Dallas, was among a group of younger participants at Friday\u2019s demonstration. He said he thinks people his age should not view politics as exclusively the domain of \u201cold people in the hall of Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n
