Seventeen television productions, including a reboot of a 1990s hit series, will be receiving tax credits through California\u2019s film and television incentive program, Governor Gavin Newsom\u2019s office announced Thursday.<\/p>\n
As \u201cBaywatch\u201d is among those set to be filmed in California, Los Angeles officials Thursday joined at the historic Venice Beach Lifeguard Operation Station where the series will be shot.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cBaywatch,\u201d featuring David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, was one of the most iconic, quintessentially Los Angeles shows, showcasing Southern California beaches.<\/p>\n
The latest round of the projects that were selected for California\u2019s Film and Television Tax Credit Program will employ over 5,100 cast and crew as well as nearly 36,000 background performers, according to the governor\u2019s office.\u00a0<\/p>\n
State officials expect the productions that will be receiving tax credits for filming in California to spend over $900 million inside California. Nearly half of the amount will go toward entertainment workers as wages while the other half will be spent on California vendors, Newsom\u2019s office said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“Baywatch was born in Los Angeles.
