{"id":393783,"date":"2025-11-21T04:01:26","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T04:01:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/393783\/"},"modified":"2025-11-21T04:01:26","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T04:01:26","slug":"ombudsman-reports-on-patient-privacy-in-the-villages-health-transition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/393783\/","title":{"rendered":"Ombudsman reports on patient privacy in The Villages Health transition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">An ombudsman has filed a report on the status of patient privacy in the transition of the ownership of The Villages Health to Humana\u2019s CenterWell.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Suzanne Richards, who is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.villages-news.com\/2025\/08\/06\/ombudsman-ordered-to-monitor-patient-care-in-wake-of-villages-health-bankruptcy\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">serving as the ombudsman for patients<\/a>, conducted a review to ensure that that the patients\u2019 privacy is being protected. She previously visited the health care centers in The Villages and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.villages-news.com\/2025\/10\/02\/ombudsman-reports-on-post-bankruptcy-status-of-care-at-the-villages-health\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> issued a report on the status of patient care.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In July, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.villages-news.com\/2025\/07\/04\/the-villages-health-seeks-bankruptcy-after-erroneous-medicare-billing\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Villages Health announced its bankruptcy<\/a> after the discovery of a mysterious $360 million \u201cMedicare coding error.\u201d It was since sold to Humana for $68 million. The Villages Health clinic will be rebranded under the CenterWell logo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">In her review, the ombudsman found that The Villages Health had \u201crobust\u201d protections for cybersecurity and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act\u00a0(HIPAA.) She found that CenterWell has equally strong programs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Computers at the facilities are password protected and very little patient information is printed out.
