{"id":394275,"date":"2025-11-21T08:53:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T08:53:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/394275\/"},"modified":"2025-11-21T08:53:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T08:53:11","slug":"singapore-blocks-entry-sanctions-four-israelis-citing-west-bank-violence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/394275\/","title":{"rendered":"Singapore blocks entry, sanctions four Israelis citing West Bank violence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a id=\"rJiHUyQjTxbg\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ynetnews.com\/culture\/article\/rkrdq00vg11l\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Singapore<\/a> will impose financial sanctions on four Israelis and bar them from entering the city-state, its foreign affairs ministry announced on Friday, accusing them of <a id=\"Sy3HLyQjTgbx\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ynetnews.com\/article\/r1nawbqxbg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">&#8220;egregious acts of extreme violence&#8221;<\/a> against Palestinians in the West Bank.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry said actions committed in the West Bank by Meir Mordechai Ettinger, Elisha Yered, Ben-Zion Gopstein and Baruch Marzel were unlawful and had jeopardised the prospects for a two-state solution in Palestine.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a firm supporter of international law and the two-state solution, Singapore opposes any unilateral attempts to change facts on the ground through acts which are illegal under international law,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n<p>All four individuals have been previously sanctioned by the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan announced in parliament in September that leaders of Israeli settler groups would be sanctioned.<\/p>\n<p>He also chided Israeli politicians who had spoken about annexing parts of the West Bank or Gaza and said the E1 settlement project would fragment the West Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from imposing sanctions, Balakrishnan said Singapore would also recognise a Palestine state under the right conditions.<\/p>\n<p>While Singapore and Israel have shared close diplomatic and military ties since the former gained independence in 1965, the city-state in 2024 voted in favor of numerous resolutions expressing support for the UN recognition of a Palestinian state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Singapore will impose financial sanctions on four Israelis and bar them from entering the city-state, its foreign affairs&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":394276,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[99,50],"class_list":{"0":"post-394275","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-news","8":"tag-israel","9":"tag-news"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/394275","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=394275"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/394275\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/394276"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=394275"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=394275"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=394275"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
