Tesla is now permitted to test its autonomous vehicles in Arizona with safety drivers.<\/p>\n
Earlier this week, the Arizona Department of Transportation approved Tesla\u2019s Transportation Network Company permit, which allows their ride-hailing robotaxis to expand their testing from Austin, Texas into metro Phoenix.<\/p>\n
Tesla\u2019s robotaxis rely solely<\/a> on cameras and artificial intelligence<\/a>, unlike Waymo\u2019s<\/a>, which use a combination of cameras, AI, radar and lidar systems.<\/p>\n According to ADOT, Tesla would need an additional permit to test or operate the robotaxis without a safety driver.
