WASHINGTON (7News) \u2014 The U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree has arrived in Washington, D.C. <\/a>Friday morning after a 3,000-mile journey from the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The red fir named Silver Belle was delivered by Swift Transportation driver Michael Porter, will reach the Capitol following a nearly three-week trip <\/a>with more than ten stops across the country.<\/p>\n

Porter, who is based in Phoenix, Ariz., has spent weeks escorting the tree so communities across the nation could see it up close and celebrate its sendoff.<\/p>\n

This year marks the 61st anniversary of the tradition <\/a>— Each year, the USDA Forest Service selects a tree from one of the nation\u2019s 154 national forests for display on the West Lawn of the Capitol.<\/p>\n
