{"id":395076,"date":"2025-11-21T17:13:16","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T17:13:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/395076\/"},"modified":"2025-11-21T17:13:16","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T17:13:16","slug":"robert-salehs-coaching-journey-could-bring-him-back-to-new-york","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/395076\/","title":{"rendered":"Robert Saleh&#8217;s coaching journey could bring him back to New York"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Robert Saleh could find his way back to New York.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/20\/sports\/the-delicate-balancing-act-giants-face-as-jaxson-darts-return-nears\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">With the Giants\u2019 head coaching job<\/a> among those currently open, the ex-Jets coach is likely to garner some interest \u2014 at least according to one NFL insider.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Saleh is at least going to elicit interest, and may well land a job,\u201d Sports Illustrated\u2019s Albert Breer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/albert-breer-mailbag-multiple-paths-dolphins-could-take-2026#_4d4sjly7q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote in his mailbag<\/a> this week. \u201cHe\u2019ll interview well, he\u2019s very close with a lot of the (Kyle) Shanahan-(Sean) McVay tree offensive coaches (so finding a good OC won\u2019t be a chore), and he\u2019ll be able to energize a franchise that\u2019s fallen on hard times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI could see the Titans or the Giants taking a long look at him, paired potentially with a Mike McDaniel (<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/10\/sports\/mike-mcdaniel-gives-expletive-filled-speech-after-dolphins-upset-win\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">if he doesn\u2019t make it in Miami<\/a>) or Mike LaFleur to run the offense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Saleh was famously fired by Jets owner Woody Johnson following a loss to the Vikings in London that dropped the 2024 squad to 2-3.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37728596\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/san-francisco-49ers-defensive-coordinator-115571190.jpg\" alt=\"San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh reacts to defeating the Arizona Cardinals.\" class=\"wp-image-37728596\"  \/>49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh reacts after defeating the Arizona Cardinals. Matt Kartozian-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s reinvigorated his career in a return to the 49ers as their defensive coordinator, fielding a defense that\u2019s helped keep the injury-ravaged team competitive.<\/p>\n<p>The scars of his time with Gang Green, during which he posted a 20-36 record, are still healing, though.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d be lying if I said it wasn\u2019t difficult,\u201d Saleh <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/31\/sports\/the-jets-robbed-robert-saleh-of-his-joy-he-found-it-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told The Post\u2019s Mark Cannizzaro<\/a> ahead of San Francisco\u2019s Week 9 win over the Giants at MetLife Stadium. \u201cOf course it was difficult because you always want a chance to compete to the very end. But you\u2019ve got to pick up and get yourself off the grass as quickly as possible and move on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have confidence in myself and the people I\u2019m surrounded by. I don\u2019t feel like I have to prove anything. Charles Wenzelberg \/ New York Post<\/p>\n<p>The Giants f<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/10\/sports\/giants-fire-brian-daboll-after-another-awful-meltdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ired Brian Dabolll after a 2-8 start to the season<\/a>, while the Titans canned Brian Callahan in October.<\/p>\n<p>Those franchises could offer Saleh what the Jets never could is a potential franchise quarterback, something Tennessee hopes it has in No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward and Big Blue is seeing emerge in Jaxson Dart.<\/p>\n<p>Dart, the No. 25 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, certainly <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/30\/sports\/robert-saleh-cannot-help-but-praise-jaxson-dart-the-ny-quarterback-he-never-had\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">caught the former head coach\u2019s eye<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMan, they hit the jackpot on this kid. The jackpot,\u201d Saleh told The Post. \u201cHe just has a Mahomes-esque quality. I\u2019m just telling you, he is freaking good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Good enough to lure him back to town?
