A manhunt is underway after arsonists torched three cars in a brazen firebombing on a suburban Sydney street on Friday night, threatening nearby homes and alarming residents.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were called to Evans Street at San Souci around 10.45pm on Friday following reports three vehicles had been set alight in a suspicious fire.<\/p>\n
Officers attached to St George Police Area Command attended the scene and Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blazes.<\/p>\n
Sans Souci resident John Leondis was in the front yard of his home when he heard a \u201cgreat thud\u201d, before a fireball exploded over his neighbour\u2019s roof.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t see anybody, and I was one of the first ones out there. I immediately got my phone and started recording,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Dramatic footage captured by Leondis shows metres-high flames engulfing cars and spreading down the gutter, threatening nearby trees and homes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe heat was extreme, you couldn\u2019t go anywhere near the house. It was just madness,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone was too surprised to be scared. How can this happen to our street?\u201d<\/p>\n
Police said no one was injured in the blaze and inquiries are ongoing.
