Ohio State<\/strong><\/a> defensive back Lorenzo Styles<\/a><\/strong> was injured<\/a> in the game vs. Rutgers<\/strong><\/a> on Saturday after a collision in the second quarter. He was immediately checked on as the Scarlet Knights marched into Buckeye territory.<\/p>\n

Ohio State led 7-0, courtesy of a Bo Jackson<\/a><\/strong> touchdown. However, Rutgers already forced a fumble on the opening drive to keep it a one-score game.<\/p>\n

The Scarlet Knights ended the drive with a Jai Patel <\/a><\/strong>field goal to cut the lead 7-3 with 11:50 to go in the first half. Coming into the day, Rutgers was 5-5 while Ohio State was 10-0 and ranked No. 1 in the country. The collision featuring Styles can be seen below.<\/p>\n

Long time Ohio State reporter Tim May said<\/strong><\/a> Styles was seen with his helmet in hand after being checked out. However, no timetable for a potential return was given.<\/p>\n

Coming into the game, Styles had 24 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and one pass deflection. He\u2019s currently playing his third season at Ohio State after spending the first two seasons of his career at Notre Dame, where he played wide receiver.<\/p>\n

Lorenzo Styles injured in game vs. Rutgers<\/p>\n

As a member of the Class of 2022, Styles was a four-star recruit out of Pickerington (Ohio) Central, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking<\/strong><\/a>. He was the No. 3 overall prospect in the state, the No. 9 wide receiver in the class and the No. 70 overall prospect in the class.<\/p>\n

Ohio State was already down a couple of playmakers in the game. WRs Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate were ruled out for the game prior to kickoff.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re working hard to get back on the field,\u201d Ohio State head coach\u00a0Ryan Day<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0said this week. \u201cThat\u2019s it. I mean, that\u2019s what they\u2019re focused on. I don\u2019t have much more of an update other than that. \u2026 I can tell you that they\u2019re in great spirits. The medical staff is working hard. We\u2019ll take it day-to-day and see how they come in each day.\u201d<\/p>\n
