{"id":39764,"date":"2025-07-05T03:33:17","date_gmt":"2025-07-05T03:33:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/39764\/"},"modified":"2025-07-05T03:33:17","modified_gmt":"2025-07-05T03:33:17","slug":"hit-and-run-driver-mows-down-man-36-in-brooklyn-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/39764\/","title":{"rendered":"Hit-and-run driver mows down man, 36, in Brooklyn crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2025\/07\/03\/cops-bust-driver-fatal-hit-run-dad-killed-driver-fled\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hit-and-run<\/a> driver struck and killed a 36-year-old man crossing a Brooklyn street, officials said Friday.<\/p>\n<p>It was the second hit-and-run in the five boroughs in 24 hours, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>The victim was crossing near the Broadway Junction near the corner of Broadway and East New York Ave. in Ocean Hill at about 10 p.m. Thursday when a gray Ford rammed into him.<\/p>\n<p>EMS rushed the victim to <a href=\"https:\/\/onebrooklynhealth.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brookdale University Hospital<\/a>, where he died a short time later, cops said. His name was not immediately released.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the Ford sped off, never stopping, cops said. He remained at large on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>In an unrelated incident on the same day, a hit-and-run driver in a Ford Mustang injured six people in a crazed crash at the corner of E. 149th St. and Courtlandt Ave. in the Melrose section of the Bronx.<\/p>\n<p>The Mustang was zipping east along E. 149th St. when the driver hit a pedestrian while trying to make a right turn onto Courtlandt Ave., cops said.<\/p>\n<p>Veering out of control, the Mustang vaulted a curb and slammed into a scaffolding and five other pedestrians standing nearby, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>The driver and his passenger crawled out of the mangled wreck and ran off on foot. The pair remained at large on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>EMS took all of the pedestrians to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nychealthandhospitals.org\/locations\/lincoln\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lincoln Hospital<\/a>, where they were treated for minor injuries, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>As of Thursday, 55 pedestrians have been killed by vehicles while crossing city streets \u2014 eight less than the 63 pedestrian fatalities reported this time last year, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a 36-year-old man crossing a Brooklyn street, officials said Friday.
