Some of Hollywood\u2019s most iconic comedies would\u2019ve looked very different if Eddie Murphy had not turned them down.<\/p>\n
In a recent interview with AP<\/a> promoting his new Netflix documentary \u201cBeing Eddie,\u201d Murphy shared his \u201cbig three \u2018wish I would have done\u2019 movies.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Variety<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201c\u2018Ghostbusters,\u2019 I was supposed to do \u2018Ghostbusters,’\u201d Murphy recalled. \u201cDidn\u2019t do that, and \u2018Rush Hour.\u2019 Didn\u2019t do that. Oh, and \u2018Who Framed Roger Rabbit.\u2019 Those are my big three \u2018wish I would have done\u2019 movies.\u201d<\/p>\n Murphy explained that the reason he wished he had joined those projects is that they were all \u201chuge, giant hits.\u201d However, he doesn\u2019t hold too much regret. The \u201cShrek\u201d star explained that because he turned down the role in \u201cGhostbusters,\u201d he landed the part of Axel Foley in \u201cBeverly Hills Cop.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWith \u2018Ghostbusters,\u2019 I did \u2018Beverly Hills Cop\u2019 instead,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was do this or that, so it worked out cool. And \u2018Who Framed Roger Rabbit\u2019 just sounded ridiculous to me, and I passed on it. And afterwards, I was like, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s fucking amazing.’\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBeing Eddie\u201d released on Netflix on Nov. 12, and with it came several revelations about Murphy\u2019s storied career. In the doc, he reflected on feeling betrayed by \u201cSaturday Night Live,\u201d which called him a \u201cfalling star\u201d during a segment targeting the poor reception of his 1995 horror comedy \u201cVampire in Brooklyn.\u201d Murphy, who appeared on \u201cSNL\u201d from 1980 to 1984, felt like his \u201calma mater\u201d took a shot at him.<\/p>\n \u201cI was like, hurt,\u201d Murphy said in the doc<\/a>. \u201cMy feelings was hurt.
