Kandi Burruss<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Todd Tucker<\/a>\u00a0are sending love to their youngest daughter,\u00a0Blaze Tucker<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A day after Kandi\u00a0announced her marital split from Todd<\/a>,\u00a0The Real Housewives of Atlanta<\/a>\u00a0parents returned to Instagram to celebrate Blaze\u2019s 6th birthday. Kandi began by posting a quick but very adorable video of the little girl standing in their Georgia home as she revealed her \u201cfirst gifts of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, it\u2019s my birthday today!\u201d Blaze shouted.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah! What\u2019d you get?\u201d Kandi asked from behind the camera.<\/p>\n

The 6-year-old proceeded to show off two boxed Labubus \u2014 one large and the other small \u2014 as well as some clothes for the dolls.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I love this ginormous one because it\u2019s so ginormous,\u201d Blaze added, causing Kandi to laugh. \u201cBut I don\u2019t know where to put it, mom.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, we\u2019ll find a place to put it,\u201d Kandi replied. \u201cI love you.\u00a0Happy birthday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Todd also marked the special day with a sweet Instagram post featuring photos of Blaze\u2019s morning car rides, Start2Finish race, a family vacation, and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kandi Burruss reflects on her fertility journey and Blaze Tucker’s birth<\/p>\n

Blaze was born via surrogacy<\/a>\u00a0about five years after\u00a0Kandi and Todd got married<\/a>. The couple is also parents to a 9-year-old son,\u00a0Ace Tucker<\/a>, as well as two adult daughters from previous relationships. Kandi is a mom to\u00a0Next Gen NYC<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0Riley Burruss<\/a>,\u00a0and Todd is the dad of\u00a0Kaela Tucker<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kandi spoke candidly about Blaze\u2019s arrival in a 2020 episode of Parents magazine’s\u00a0We Are Family podcast<\/a>, admitting she felt a bit of \u201cguilt\u201d about using a surrogate. The Atlanta mom said it was a \u201ctough decision,\u201d but chose to take the surrogacy route for health and safety reasons. Kandi explained she had previously undergone surgery to remove uterine fibroids and was left with heavy scar tissue. She said the complications would make any subsequent pregnancy \u201chigh risk.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kandi insisted her surrogate, Shadina, was great, but she couldn\u2019t help but feel bad watching another woman carry her child. She recalled a particularly upsetting comment from one of her relatives, who questioned whether Kandi would be able to bond with a child born through surrogacy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt really hurt my feelings because you already know it’s a hard decision to make, to go through a surrogate,\u201d she said. \u201cBut then you’re making me feel bad because you’re saying that I’m not even going to have a bond with my baby… being a woman who has birthed my previous children, [that] automatically was a concern of mine. Like, will me and Blaze have the same connection? So I didn’t need somebody else chiming in saying that.”<\/p>\n

Kandi\u2019s bonding concerns immediately dissipated once Blaze was born.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Blaze got here, I didn’t feel any less of a connection than I have with my previous children,” she continued. “I still feel super bonded when I come in the room. Blaze lights up \u2014 her smile is so huge when I walk in there \u2014 so it’s still this same love, the same connection.”<\/p>\n

Blaze rang in her 6th birthday just hours after Kandi announced she was pursuing a divorce from Todd. The Grammy winner didn\u2019t share any details on what prompted the decision, but said she was now focusing on her kids, work, and \u201cprotecting [her] peace.\u201d Read her full statement\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
