Loved ones described her as big-hearted, devoted to her family and a caring mother.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were already one piece. Now we\u2019re not,\u201d a family member said. \u201cOur family feels broken, hurt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to San Antonio police, officers and firefighters were dispatched just before 6 a.m. Monday to Southwest Loop 410 near Highway 16 after a cellular alert indicated a possible crash.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Responders searched the area but found no signs of a wreck and cleared the scene by 6:15 a.m., police said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were no witnesses,\u201d police said. \u201cWe went out there and were not able to locate any kind of accident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pesina\u2019s family said they tried calling and texting her throughout Monday. When she did not respond and still had not been heard from by Tuesday, they filed a missing persons report.<\/p>\n<p>Desperate for answers, the family went to the area themselves Tuesday night \u2014 roughly 36 hours after the initial police search.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They found Pesina&#8217;s vehicle in a ravine about a mile from where officers and firefighters had been dispatched.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m still in shock. I still can\u2019t wrap my head around the whole thing,\u201d a family member said.<\/p>\n<p>The discovery, they said, was one they never wanted to make. Now they are demanding clarity on how the crash went unnoticed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re getting our answers,\u201d a family member said. \u201cWe just have to take it slowly, day by day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>San Antonio police called the situation \u201cvery unfortunate\u201d and offered condolences to the family.
