{"id":398851,"date":"2025-11-23T09:39:13","date_gmt":"2025-11-23T09:39:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/398851\/"},"modified":"2025-11-23T09:39:13","modified_gmt":"2025-11-23T09:39:13","slug":"bill-maher-hits-back-at-larry-david-trump-spoof-op-ed-my-dinner-with-adolf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/398851\/","title":{"rendered":"Bill Maher hits back at Larry David Trump spoof op-ed My Dinner with Adolf"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bill Maher is firing back against fellow liberal comedian Larry David.<\/p>\n<p>The HBO host slammed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/04\/21\/opinion\/larry-david-hitler-dinner.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David\u2019s April op-ed<\/a>\u00a0in The New York Times, \u201cMy Dinner with Adolf,\u201d calling it \u201cdumb\u201d and \u201cunhelpful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cSeinfeld\u201d co-creator\u2019s op-ed satirized Maher\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/04\/12\/media\/bill-maher-dishes-on-trump-dinner-and-reveals-what-president-gifted-him\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cordial dinner with President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0in March, depicting a fictional dinner between himself and Adolf Hitler in 1939 and reflecting that \u201cif only the world could see this side of him, people might have a completely different opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While discussing what he saw as some of the more \u201cnuts\u201d aspects of both the Democratic and Republican parties,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=TnMiRMl6FLc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maher noted<\/a>\u00a0that while he\u2019ll \u201cnever stop pointing out\u201d what he finds wrong about the Trump administration, it\u2019s illogical to completely cut certain people out of the conversation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I\u2019m an adult, and in the real world, there\u2019s some people you just can\u2019t stop talking to, like your spouse or partner after a bad fight. Tempting as that is. Like your d\u2014 of a boss, like your family and like the president of the\u00a0United States. This is so childish, so purely emotional,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maher continued, moving his focus to those who criticized him for meeting with Trump, adding, \u201cThe people who got all butthurt because I had dinner with [Trump], you know, because he\u2019s Hitler. Except he\u2019s not. Real Time with Bill Maher\/YouTube<\/p>\n<p>As he spoke, a graphic appeared on screen showing the Times op-ed headline, \u201cLarry David: My Dinner With Adolf.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cReal Time\u201d host argued that Trump has been \u201cthe most supportive president Israel and the Jews ever had,\u201d before escalating his criticism of David personally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, every year I used to ask Larry David to do \u2018Real Time,\u2019 and he\u2019d always say, \u2018Bill, I can\u2019t. I\u2019m not smart enough about politics to do your show.\u2019 Yeah, I get that now,\u201d he quipped. \u201cBecause there is no argument here. There\u2019s just the sugar rush that the no contact people get from never coming in second in an \u2018I hate Trump the most contest.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wrapping up his criticisms of David, Maher questioned whether the left\u2019s strategy was to \u201cgo full high school\u201d and \u201ctell the guy with all the power he can\u2019t sit with you at the lunch table.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>This was\u00a0not the first time\u00a0Maher addressed David\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/04\/24\/entertainment\/bill-maher-says-larry-davids-essay-mocking-him-for-trump-is-insulting-to-6m-dead-jews\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cMy Dinner with Adolf\u201d op-ed.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In April, Maher appeared on \u201cPiers Morgan Uncensored\u201d and was asked about David\u2019s satirical piece roasting his positive exchange with Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis wasn\u2019t, you know, my favorite moment of our friendship,\u201d Maher said of David.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bill Maher has dinner in the White House with President Donald Trump, Kid Rock and Dana White on March 31, 2025. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I think the minute you play the Hitler card, you\u2019ve lost the argument,\u201d Maher told host Piers Morgan. \u201cAnd, also, I must say, you know, come on, man. Hitler? Nazis? Nobody has been harder about and on and more prescient, I must say, about Donald Trump than me. I don\u2019t need to be lectured on who Donald Trump is. Just the fact that I met him in person didn\u2019t change that, and the fact that I reported honestly is not a sin either.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo use the Hitler thing, first of all, I just think it\u2019s kind of insulting to six million dead Jews, you know. Like, that should kind of be in its own place in history. And, you know, I know people can say, \u2018Well, we\u2019re just comparing it in this way.\u2019 Well, it\u2019s an argument you kind of lost just to start it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHitler has really kind of got to stay in his own place. He is the GOAT of evil, and we\u2019re just going to have to, I think, leave it like that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A representative for David did not immediately respond to\u00a0Fox News Digital\u2019s\u00a0request for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fox News\u2019 Joseph A.
