It might be a pinch much to say we were <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasobserver.com\/opinion\/michelin-star-for-new-dallas-restaurant-explained-sorta-40611689\/\">\u201cshook\u201d by a new restaurant getting a Michelin star<\/a> this year, but it made many foodies pause before their next bite of taco. We\u2019ve been chatting a lot about who we are as a food city and what we wanna be when we grow up. <\/p>\n<p>In that vein, it\u2019s been a long time since a Dallas chef or restaurant has won an award from the James Beard Foundation, aside from the absolutely most deserving and wonderful Chad Hauser at Cafe Momentum, who received a\u00a0James Beard <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasobserver.com\/food-drink\/cafe-momentum-in-dallas-is-a-big-winner-at-james-beard-awards-22514014\/\">Humanitarian Of The Year Award<\/a> for his work with area teens at his restaurant. <\/p>\n<p>Who\u2019s Who of Chefs<\/p>\n<p>On March 3, 2026, however, Dallas will host the James Beard Foundation\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jamesbeard.org\/events\/taste-america-dallas\">Taste America culinary series<\/a>, designed to showcase independent restaurants and visionary chefs who are shaping our culinary culture. The dinner will be at Sachet with chef Stephen Rogers, a member of the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jamesbeard.org\/events\/tastetwenty-chefs-2025-2026\">2025-2026 Taste Twenty class<\/a>, which recognizes culinary talent and leadership. <\/p>\n<p>Michelle Carpenter of Restaurant Beatrice will also be a part of the dinner. Guests will enjoy a one-of-a-kind, multi-course menu, accompanied by wine pairings and cocktails, according to a press release. <\/p>\n<p>The Taste America series will hit 20 cities across the U.S. and proceeds from each dinner benefit the James Beard Foundation\u2019s mission to champion a more sustainable, equitable and thriving future for independent restaurants and the broader food system.  <\/p>\n<p>How to Get a Seat<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jamesbeard.org\/events\/taste-america-dallas\">Tickets<\/a> for Taste America Dallas are now on sale. Dinner will cost $175, but the menu is not yet available.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasobserver.com\/location\/sachet-103888\">Sachet<\/a> is one of the Observer\u2019s longstanding top <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasobserver.com\/food-drink\/best-restaurants-in-dallas-texas-21237887\/\">100 restaurants<\/a>. We applaud the menu\u2019s wide range of influences from Spanish Iberico ham to Turkish-inspired lamb, \u201cwith a detour at the end for Tunisian doughnuts, but pastas like green tortiglioni and lobster spaghetti just might be best of all.\u201d We\u2019re also big fans of the robust wine program here. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The James Beard Foundation is hosting a dinner at Sachet.
