It\u2019s no secret that LSU<\/a><\/strong> is pursuing Lane Kiffin<\/a><\/strong> to be its next football coach. The students did their part Saturday during a game against Western Kentucky<\/a><\/strong> to convince him to make Baton Rouge his new home. <\/p>\n

In the waning moments of a 13-10 win against the Hilltoppers, video emerged of the student section chanting \u201cWe want Kiffin.\u201d You can check it out for yourself<\/a> below. <\/p>\n

The Tigers are in the market for a new coach after giving Brian Kelly<\/a><\/strong> the boot last month. They have made Kiffin their top target, reportedly<\/a><\/strong> offering him a $90 million contract in addition to $25 million annually in roster cash.<\/p>\n

However, LSU isn\u2019t the only team looking to lure Lane Kiffin away from his current job at Ole Miss<\/a><\/strong>. Florida<\/a><\/strong> has also shown an interest in the coach. However, a report from CBS Sports<\/a><\/strong> on Friday indicated LSU was in the lead. <\/p>\n

Kiffin is squarely in the mix for both the LSU and Florida jobs, and On3\u2019s\u00a0Pete Nakos<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0reported the Ole Miss coach\u2019s family\u00a0visited both Baton Rouge and Gainesville<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0amid the pursuit. Rebels athletic director Keith Carter<\/strong> met with Kiffin on Friday and said in a recent statement that an announcement from the coach is expected to come the Saturday after Thanksgiving. <\/p>\n

\u201cCoach Kiffin and I have had many pointed and positive conversations regarding his future at Ole Miss, including meeting today with Chancellor Boyce,\u201d\u00a0Carter wrote in a statement<\/a>. \u201cWhile we discuss next steps, we know we cannot lose sight of what is most important\u00a0\u2013 our sixth-ranked team that is poised to finish the regular season in historic fashion.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the outside noise, Coach Kiffin is focused on preparing our team for the Egg Bowl, and together, we want to ensure that our players and coaches can concentrate fully on next Friday\u2019s game. This team is on the cusp of an unprecedented season, and it\u2019s imperative they feel the support of the Ole Miss family in the week ahead. An announcement on Coach Kiffin\u2019s future is expected the Saturday following the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

All of this comes at the same time that Ole Miss finds itself right in the thick of the College Football Playoff race.
