(WLOS) \u2014 A Sylva man has been arrested after setting a woman on fire during a domestic violence incident.<\/p>\n<p>According to a Facebook post on the Sylva Police Department page, officers were dispatched to a domestic dispute at 587 Chipper Curve Road on Friday, Nov. 21, at 7:18 a.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wlos.com\/news\/local\/sylva-woman-charged-assault-stabbing-incident-leaves-two-injured-jackson-county-sheriffs-office\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">SYLVA WOMAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT AFTER STABBING INCIDENT LEAVES TWO INJURED<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After responding, officers began an investigation in which they learned that Patrick Tyson and a woman had a verbal altercation in which, according to the woman, Tyson stated that if she did not get him a beer, he would set her on fire.<\/p>\n<p>According to the post, officers learned that Tyson had grabbed a bottle of isopropyl alcohol and poured it on the floor, then on the couch the woman was sitting on, and then set the alcohol on fire.<\/p>\n<p>The victim&#8217;s shirt was burned off her body; however, she did not sustain any physical injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The house suffered some smoke damage, burned carpet, and a charred couch from the fire. The stove was also shattered after Tyson threw an item at it during the incident.<\/p>\n<p>The post says the Sylva Fire Department responded to the incident and quickly extinguished the flames.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wlos.com\/news\/local\/man-charged-with-arson-accused-of-setting-fire-to-his-mobile-home-asheville-trailer-park-department-police-firefighters-serious-consequences\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">MAN CHARGED WITH ARSON, ACCUSED OF SETTING FIRE TO HIS MOBILE HOME<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tyson was arrested and charged with the following, according to the post:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill<\/li>\n<li>Felony first-degree arson<\/li>\n<li>Misdemeanor assault on a female<\/li>\n<li>Misdemeanor injury to personal property<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tyson was taken before a magistrate and then lodged in the Jackson County Jail under a $750,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 1 in District Court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SYLVA, N.C.
