A house fire sent a 79-year-old man to the hospital with serious injuries on Saturday, officials said.<\/p>\n
The blaze happened about 1 a.m. at a single-family house on Baldwin Avenue in Jersey City, the Hudson County Prosecutor\u2019s Office<\/a> said in a statement on Sunday. <\/p>\n When firefighters arrived, they found smoke and fire in the basement of the home. During suppression efforts, the man was found unconscious with serious bodily injuries, officials said. <\/p>\n He is now at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston in critical, but stable condition, authorities said. <\/p>\n Officials did not comment on the extent of the damage to the home or say whether there were any other occupants. <\/p>\n The fire is still under investigation by the city fire department and Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force.
