LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – About a dozen girls from fifth all the way to twelfth grade are cheering on the La Porte Slicers, breaking barriers with every cheer. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we decided to start it, we just thought about how every girl wants to get up and dance with their friends, and we wanted to provide that same experience to girls of every ability to get that joy and belonging,\u201d said Kesling Intermediate school coach and special education teacher Taylor Stafford. <\/p>\n
Which is clear, even just from the one practice I attended. Love is the name of the game for the Ladies in Orange. <\/p>\n
\u201cI just like it all, they\u2019re so happy and they love you no matter what,\u201d said Grace Goss. <\/p>\n
Many tell me their favorite part about being on the team is hanging out with their best friends. One coach, Emma Nanny, says this team was something the community really needed. <\/p>\n
\u201cOne of our big things too is to promote inclusion and be able to showcase all of the special things about all these girls and it brings light to it,\u201d said coach Emma Nanny. \u201cAnd so, all of the students that attend the games and seeing them cheer on these girls and our squad, it\u2019s really special and so it\u2019s a big movement.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition to games, the ladies are now practicing for their big spring showcase, continuing to spread the motto that inclusion is a vibe. <\/p>\n
