Thiruvananthapuram: A series of raids by the Drugs Intelligence\u00a0Department across Thiruvanthapuram, Thrissur and Kozhikode districts led to the confiscation of fake medicines worth over \u20b92 lakh, according to a statement issued by the Health Department.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The raids followed the directive of Health Minister Veena George, urging strict action against the proprietors of fake medicines. Raids coordinated by the Drugs Controller exposed counterfeits of Seroflo Rotacaps 250 manufactured by Cipla Ltd, which is widely used by asthma patients.\u00a0The investigation will be extended to other states as well.<\/p>\n
Following the seizure, the Drugs Control Department took legal action against Ashwas Pharma, operating from Balaramapuram in Thiruvananthapuram, and Med World Pharma, operating from Poonkunnam in Thrissur. Strict action would be taken against them, including the cancellation of their licenses, the note read.<\/p>\n
The press note also warned that traders who purchase medicines from other states must document all receipts, from the manufacturer to the trader. If traders are found storing medicines without proper documentation, their licenses will be cancelled.<\/p>\n
