The Suns lost by a point to Memphis, 114-113, Oct. 29 and by two points to Atlanta, 124-122, Nov. 16.

Dillon Brooks paced the Suns with 25 points while Devin Booker went for 24 points. Phoenix is 2-0 against San Antonio this season.

De’Aaron Fox scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Spurs (11-5), who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Phoenix won its third in a row.

The Suns were without Grayson Allen (right quad contusion), Jalen Green (right hamstring strain), Ryan Dunn (right wrist sprain) and rookie Rasheer Fleming (left ankle sprain). Dunn and Fleming were previously listed as questionable.

The Spurs were down Victor Wembanyama (left calf strain), Stephon Castle (left hip flexor strain), Dylan Harper (left calf strain) and Jordan McLaughlin (left hamstring strain).

Suns down 56-49 at half, losing free-throw battle

The Phoenix Suns trail the San Antonio Spurs, 56-49, at halftime on Nov. 23 at Mortgage Matchup Center.

Both teams are struggling on 3s. The Suns are 4-of-17 while the Spurs are 4-of-18.

Dillon Brooks leads the Suns with 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting, while Devin Booker has 10 points on 3-of-11 shooting.

De’Aaron Fox paces the Spurs with 13 points, going 8-of-8 from the line. As a team, Phoenix is 7-of-8 while San Antonio is 16-of-19 from the line.

The Spurs have led by as many as 11 points, while Phoenix’s biggest lead is four.

Goodwin making first start ever for Phoenix

The Phoenix Suns (10-6) are starting Jordan Goodwin in place of Ryan Dunn for Sunday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs (11-4).

Dunn has been downgraded from questionable to out with a right wrist sprain he suffered on a hard fall to the floor after a missed dunk attempt over 7-footer Rudy Gobert in Friday’s comeback win over the Minnesota Timberwolves at Mortgage Matchup Center.

This will be Phoenix’s ninth different starting lineup as Goodwin his making his first start ever for the Suns. Goodwin is averaging 12 points, shooting 9-of-17 from, 6.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals in his last five games.

Goodwin played 40 games for Phoenix in 2023-24, but he didn’t start any of them. He’s played in 13 of Phoenix’s 16 games this season.

The Suns are starting Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks, Royce O’Neale, Mark Williams and Goodwin. They are down Jalen Green (hamstring), Grayson Allen (quad), rookie Rasheer Fleming (left ankle sprain) and Dunn.

The Spurs will start De’Aaron Fox, Devin Vassell, Julian Champagnie, Harrison Barnes and Luke Kornet. Victor Wembanyama (calf), Stephon Castle (hip), Dylan Harper (calf) and Jordan McLaughlin (hamstring) are out.

With Fox in the lineup, Phoenix starting Goodwin makes sense. Plus, Goodwin is playing well early in the season as he scored five points in Phoenix’s 9-0 close to beating Minnesota.

Have opinions about the current state of the Suns?
