{"id":40290,"date":"2025-07-05T08:19:14","date_gmt":"2025-07-05T08:19:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/40290\/"},"modified":"2025-07-05T08:19:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-05T08:19:14","slug":"american-airlines-flight-headed-to-dallas-diverted-after-passenger-misinterprets-text","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/40290\/","title":{"rendered":"American Airlines flight headed to Dallas diverted after passenger misinterprets text"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/topic\/american-airlines\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/topic\/american-airlines\/\">American Airlines<\/a> flight headed to Dallas was diverted after a passenger misinterpreted a neighbor\u2019s text message.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">A passenger saw their seat neighbor receive a text message that read \u201cR.I.P.\u201d and thought it was a threat to the flight, which departed Thursday from San Juan, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/2024\/12\/31\/nearly-all-of-puerto-rico-hit-with-power-outage-on-new-years-eve\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/2024\/12\/31\/nearly-all-of-puerto-rico-hit-with-power-outage-on-new-years-eve\/\">Puerto Rico<\/a>, local news outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.primerahora.com\/noticias\/policia-tribunales\/notas\/pasajera-lee-mensaje-ajeno-y-desata-falsa-alarma-de-bomba-en-vuelo-todo-por-un-rip\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.primerahora.com\/noticias\/policia-tribunales\/notas\/pasajera-lee-mensaje-ajeno-y-desata-falsa-alarma-de-bomba-en-vuelo-todo-por-un-rip\/\">Primera Hora<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">In a statement to The Dallas Morning News, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/2025\/05\/30\/american-airlines-new-premium-boeing-787-9-takes-luxury-to-the-skies\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/2025\/05\/30\/american-airlines-new-premium-boeing-787-9-takes-luxury-to-the-skies\/\">American Airlines<\/a> said flight 1847 returned to San Juan \u201cshortly after departure due to a possible security concern.\u201d Flight staff determined the issue did not pose a threat but returned to San Juan \u201cout of an abundance of caution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The flight landed in San Juan, and law enforcement inspected and cleared the aircraft.
