Nov. 25 (UPI) — At least one tornado has touched down in the Houston area, damaging more than 100 homes, according to authorities.<\/p>\n
The homes were damaged in the Memorial Northwest neighborhoods, Harris County constable Mark Herman said in a statement<\/a>, saying first responders were searching for any injured or trapped residents.\n<\/p>\n Cpt. Steve Wilson<\/a> of Harris County said there were no reported injuries.<\/p>\n “Long road ahead for many people as their homes were pretty damaged by the twister,” he said<\/a> on X.\n<\/p>\n The tornado touched down in Harris County on Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service<\/a>. No rating has yet been assigned to the storm.<\/p>\n Harris County emergency services reported one of its buildings in Klein sustained damage from the tornado, but said operations will not be affect.<\/p>\n “Rest assured, we are still answering and responding to your calls for emergency service,” it said in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n Herman said there was a “strong odor” of natural gas through impacted neighborhoods and residents were being urged to avoid the area and report suspected gas leaks.<\/p>\n
