(Tania Savayan\/lohud)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There are various charitable organizations in New York&#8217;s Westchester, Rockland and Putnam Counties.<\/li>\n<li>These nonprofits support a wide range of causes, including people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ communities and food insecurity.<\/li>\n<li>Other organizations focus on environmental preservation, educational services and support for immigrant communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The holiday season is all about giving. If you&#8217;re looking for a way to give back in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties this Giving Tuesday, look no further than this list of organizations working to help local and regional residents every day.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s how you can support them this Thanksgiving and Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>Lower Hudson Valley, NYC organizations supporting people with disabilities\u00a0Team Nikhil Foundation<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lohud.com\/story\/news\/local\/westchester\/bedford\/2024\/10\/30\/hudson-valley-ny-halloween-head-to-bedford-for-inclusive-trick-or-treat\/75915373007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Team Nikhil Foundation<\/strong><\/a> is a charitable organization that was created to improve the lives of children with multiple disabilities and complex medical needs. The founders began the organization in honor of their son with complex medical needs, Nikhil, who died in 2021. One of their signature events is inclusive trick-or-treating in Bedford, which they host yearly in Nikhil\u2019s memory.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to donate: <\/strong>Head to <a href=\"http:\/\/teamnikhil.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">teamnikhil.org<\/a> and look for the \u201cDonate\u201d button under the \u201cMore\u201d tab.<\/p>\n<p>Spectrum Designs<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lohud.com\/story\/news\/local\/westchester\/pleasantville\/2025\/03\/19\/westchester-ny-company-spectrum-designs-explains-autism-friendly-jobs-to-kelly-clarkson-show\/81431484007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Spectrum Designs<\/strong><\/a> also works with people with disabilities. Its mission is to create meaningful and inclusive employment for people who have autism or or neurodivergent, as well as provide vocational training opportunities. Its accessibility programs help obtain accommodations for theatregoers who are blind or have low vision; deaf or hard of hearing, or those who cannot climb stairs, need aisle seating or wheelchair seating. What to expect in 2025 Christmas Spectacular<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lower Hudson Valley, NYC organizations that support LGBTQ+ communities\u00a0Putnam Pride<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lohud.com\/story\/news\/local\/putnam\/2024\/06\/02\/putnam-county-ny-pride-month-hudson-valley-festival\/73923495007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Putnam Pride<\/strong><\/a> is an organization dedicated to creating welcoming spaces for queer people of all ages in Putnam County. Frank Pride Center of Rockland County<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lohud.com\/story\/news\/local\/rockland\/nyack\/2024\/06\/17\/block-party-nyack-ny-diversity-lgbtq-community-bipoc-pride-month\/73987478007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Phyllis B. Frank Pride Center of Rockland County<\/strong><\/a>, also known as Rockland County Pride Center, is another local organization focused on supporting LGBTQ+ communities, specifically those in Rockland County. They provide a variety of in-person, virtual, and hybrid programs and community resources, including social activities and support groups, to support LGBTQ+ people \u201cin every aspect of life, from health and wellness to community building and beyond,\u201d their website reads.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>To donate: <\/strong>Head to <a href=\"http:\/\/theloftcenter.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">theloftcenter.org<\/a> and look for the salmon pink \u201cDonate\u201d button.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lower Hudson Valley, NYC organizations addressing food insecurity\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With the recent federal threat of the removal of SNAP benefits, organizations that address food insecurity have been in high demand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Feeding Westchester<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lohud.com\/story\/news\/local\/westchester\/new-rochelle\/2025\/09\/10\/911-national-day-of-service-volunteers-new-rochelle-ny-westchester-county-monroe-university\/85972349007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Feeding Westchester<\/strong><\/a> is one local organization that\u2019s addressing food insecurity throughout the area. Eat! program<\/p>\n<p>Another organization, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lohud.com\/story\/news\/local\/westchester\/new-rochelle\/2025\/07\/16\/new-rochelle-ny-mobile-market-lincoln-park-conservancy-garden-gives-away-free-fresh-vegetables\/84536794007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>The Lincoln Park Conservancy\u2019s Grow! Eat!<\/strong><\/a> program, also aims to address food insecurity through its Mobile Vegetable Market, which launched this summer. Programming includes educational events, advocating for policy solutions and pursuing legal cases to stop polluters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>To donate: <\/strong>Head to <a href=\"http:\/\/engage.riverkeeper.org\/give\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">engage.riverkeeper.org\/give<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lower Hudson Valley, NYC organizations that provide educational services\u00a0Yonkers Partners in Education<\/p>\n<p>For those interested in supporting education, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ypie.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Yonkers Partners in Education<\/strong><\/a> (known as YPIE for short) is the organization to check out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>YPIE works with low-income school district students, providing them with resources to overcome obstacles they may face applying to, getting into and graduating from college. They provide a wide range of programming, from college application assistance to mental health counseling and support for acquiring financial aid.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>To donate: <\/strong>Head to <a href=\"http:\/\/ypie.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ypie.org<\/a> and look for the orange \u201cDonate\u201d button.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lower Hudson Valley, NYC organizations that support immigrant communities\u00a0\u00a0United Community Center of Westchester<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lohud.com\/story\/news\/local\/westchester\/new-rochelle\/2025\/10\/31\/flooding-causes-severe-damage-at-new-rochelle-ny-united-community-center-of-westchester-building\/87010423007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>United Community Center of Westchester<\/strong><\/a>, or UCCW for short, blends direct service and advocacy efforts to provide \u201cquality social, economic, and community development services\u201d to community members who \u201cface financial, educational, health, language, or cultural barriers to realizing their dreams,\u201d according to their website.
