The holiday season is all about giving. If you’re looking for a way to give back in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties this Giving Tuesday, look no further than this list of organizations working to help local and regional residents every day.<\/p>\n
Here’s how you can support them this Thanksgiving and Christmas.<\/p>\n
Lower Hudson Valley, NYC organizations supporting people with disabilities\u00a0Team Nikhil Foundation<\/p>\n
Team Nikhil Foundation<\/strong><\/a> is a charitable organization that was created to improve the lives of children with multiple disabilities and complex medical needs. The founders began the organization in honor of their son with complex medical needs, Nikhil, who died in 2021. One of their signature events is inclusive trick-or-treating in Bedford, which they host yearly in Nikhil\u2019s memory.\u00a0<\/p>\n How to donate: <\/strong>Head to teamnikhil.org<\/a> and look for the \u201cDonate\u201d button under the \u201cMore\u201d tab.<\/p>\n Spectrum Designs<\/p>\n Spectrum Designs<\/strong><\/a> also works with people with disabilities. Its mission is to create meaningful and inclusive employment for people who have autism or or neurodivergent, as well as provide vocational training opportunities. Its accessibility programs help obtain accommodations for theatregoers who are blind or have low vision; deaf or hard of hearing, or those who cannot climb stairs, need aisle seating or wheelchair seating.
