Thanksgiving travel is surging across North Texas, with DFW Airport, Dallas Love Field, and major highways all experiencing early increases in passenger and traffic volume heading into the holiday week.<\/p>\n
Transportation officials say both airports and roadways are preparing for one of the busiest travel periods of the year as millions of Texans head out.<\/p>\n
DFW Airport expects some of its highest passenger counts of 2025, with tens of thousands of travelers passing through the terminals every day leading into Thanksgiving. Love Field also reports elevated demand, driven largely by short-haul family travel and last-minute bookings.<\/p>\n
On the roads, state travel forecasts show millions of Texans opting to drive, pushing traffic volumes well above typical November levels. The Texas Department of Transportation projects heavy congestion on major corridors into and out of Dallas\u2013Fort Worth through Sunday, especially during peak getaway and return hours.<\/p>\n
Airlines and state agencies have advised travelers to plan for longer lines, earlier arrivals, and potential slowdowns at security checkpoints and tollways. The holiday travel surge is consistent with a broader nationwide uptick, as families gather and leisure travel continues to rebound.<\/p>\n
